A Day at Lungshan Temple | Taipei, Taiwan
Recently, I spent a day at Lungshan Temple. This acts as a place of worship predominantly for Buddhists, Daoists, and Confucians. I had the pleasure to be approached by three Buddhists, who explained what was occurring. Believers place offerings on the table and retrieve it after a short period of time. The offerings are taken home to be eaten for good luck. Inccents are burned in order to purify oneself of negative qualities. People wave the smoke on them because it goes to “god.”
Note: This particular denomination of Buddhism is mixed with Chinese philosophy.
